Current Interests is a Los Angeles based architectural design studio founded by Matthew Au and Mira Henry. Their practice is grounded in a joy for material specificity, color relationships, assembly details, and an engagement in critical cultural thinking.

Established in 2017, the studio draws on the deep and particular knowledge each of them brings to the collaboration. Over the last decade, they have designed and constructed a wide range of complex building programs, including residential, commercial, exhibition design, and public cultural projects. Together they seek meaningful relationships with clients, and to work towards aesthetically nuanced projects of all scales.

Mira Henry is the co-principal of Current Interests. Her professional expertise is in the design and project management of residential construction and detailing, and in retail and restaurant interiors. In addition, she has collaborated on large-scale building programs including an urban branch library and a corporate hotel.

Mira is design faculty at Southern California Institute for Architecture, where she coordinates undergraduate design studios and the DID summer program for local youth. Her formal research and writing focus on architecture, race, and materiality. She is the recipient of the 2019 Architectural League Prize, Henry Adams AIA Award, and Archiprix International Gold Medal. She has participated in numerous symposia, lectures, exhibitions, and reviews at institutions nationwide, including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton Universities. Prior to teaching and forming her own practice, Mira worked as a lead designer and project manager for Talbot McLanahan Architecture, Office dA, and Monica Ponce de Leon Studio in New York. Mira holds a Bachelor in Art History from the University of Chicago and a Master of Architecture from UCLA.
